in the Sun

I talk a lot about the importance of sunscreen in our daily skincare. Being outside in the sun is great for us to breath fresh air and improve our vitamin D levels, it is associated even with levels of happiness. But the sun can cause severe damage and speed the aging process of the skin; cancer, wrinkles, and pigmentation are the most common.

Safety while outside is essential to the health of our skin. Use mineral SPF (fewer chemicals) daily even if you think you are in the shade, a minimum of SPF 30 is the recommendation of the American Academy of Dermatology. Stay in the shade on the strongest hours (generally between 11 am - 3 pm). And remember to renew it a few times a day (every 2 hours if you are outside).

Personally, I love using makeup that has SPF in it to skip one step. Be sure that your SPF comes with Broad Spectrum which means that protects against both UVA and UVB rays and that your protection is minimum SPF 30. A great tip to increase sun protection during the day is to apply powder, it works as a physical barrier from the sun because is generally made of Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, both act as reflectors and repel light.
